One of the significant milestones of the then Fréjorgues Airport happened in 1990 when it first reach one million passengers. Four years after, it was renamed Montpellier Méditerranée Airport. This was followed by continuous increase in its passenger traffic. By 2016, its traffic has grown to more than 1.5 million, and one year after, it reached its historic record of 1,849,410. By that time, 16 companies operate at MPL to a total of 30 destinations around Europe. This is expected to continously increase.

Transport Information

As one of France’s busiest airports, Montpellier Airport offers enough transportation options to serve its almost 2 million annual passengers. Although it is not directly connected to the railway, you can still access train services by taking the airport shuttle and getting off at Place de l’Europe Tramway Station. This is also the bus stop for you to reach the city centre. If you’re travelling from the city centre, you can board the Navette Aeroport bus to reach Montpellier Airport directly. The airport shuttle only costs 1.60 euros, so it won’t make a dent in your wallet. Taxi services are also available at a higher cost of 26 euros. Car rentals are available if you’re after comfort and convenience, while bus rentals are great for bigger groups.
